A Booksigning with no Book?
On September 13th I’m headed to the wiles of NY state — Albany to be precise — for a book signing. I jumped on the chance to be included with the group. It’s only a 5 hour drive and totally worth the publicity.
But…
I have an eBook. It’s not in print yet.
So I woke up this morning and thought to myself…how the heck do I do a book signing without (gasp) a book? ^_^ Ahh the things our minds come up with when we’re sleeping.
My plan is to get some postcards printed up with the book cover on the front, and the blurb and order info on the back. That way I’ll (a) have something to sign and (b) have something to hand out. I have no idea what else to do? Other than schmooze. ^_^
Ideas anyone?

ps – guess I’d better renew my passport….

That’s actually a very good idea. Postcards are small enough to put in your purse or bag, but not to small so people loose them. The blurb is gonna win them over right away (of course!) so they are going to need the order info to get your book as soon as they get home
I hope you’re going to have fun! Take pictures with people and let them send them to you so you have something to remember the day by.
I’ll definitely be taking some photos! I’m actually rather excited about the whole thing! Plus there’s talk of doing on in Toronto with the Canuck RRP Authors as well – so that should be a hoot ‘cos I’ll get all my BFF’s to show up…
There’s apparently a way to put the book on CD and sell that but it seems like a lot of work when people should be able to just download it, no?
An inexpensive and high quality postcard option is to print your cover out as a photo and then slap a white mailing label on the back. I do that and it looks great.
Thanks Kimber — I’m certainly looking into that as an option as well! The cover certainly stands out – I just need to add the buy link and blurb info. The photo idea or postcard idea is probably going to be the most affordable bet!
I was just wondering…
Maybe if you could find little usb-sticks (you know the cheap kind with not so much mb’s on them) put your book on it and sell those for cheaper than online, and still come out ahead (probably)
